What is Phi?

Phi, or the golden ratio is a number. Its 1.168 to be exact. It is also the name sake of the academy I chose to learn microblading, Phibrows Academy. In this post I will discuss both and their relationship to each other and to me!

The Golden Ratio

Phi, is like Pi, a number most of us are more familiar with thanks to high school math. Both are based on a geometric construction. Phi, or The Golden Ratio as it is called, is a special number found by dividing a line into two parts so that the longer part divided by the smaller part is also equal to the whole length divided by the longer part. It is often symbolized using phi, after the 21st letter of the Greek alphabet. This is also know as the divine proportion was was employed even by the renaissance artists to provide aesthetically pleasing proportions. Upon further review you can find the golden ration is everything from the human body to plants, art ad architecture,  the solar system, and even DNA! want to learn more about Phi.. look here  https://www.goldennumber.net/what-is-phi/

Now that we are comfortable with what phi is lets discuss how it is relevant to this post and the answer is eyebrows! Of course! With the invention of the golden ratio compass we can determine the perfect portions for each persons brow shape. without all that pesky math! The compass is used to take a series of up to 14 measurements (7 per eyebrow) that accurately place the start of the eyebrow, the high point of the arch, and the perfect end point for the tail. It is an amazing tool that takes the guess work out of finding the most flattering eyebrow shape. Its the science piece in the the art and science of microblading.

The Phi Academy

Phi Brows Academy

Did I mention also that Phi is the also Academy where I chose to learn the microblading technique? Having done my previous training at the Aveda and International Dermal Institutes I preferred a set curriculum. I had been to one terribly inadequate microblading training that was more seminar that class. It was unorganized and chaotic and not informative. The teacher basically just let everyone "practice" on each other.  Yes, YIKES! It left me feeling underwhelmed, frustrated and concerned that I wouldn't find what I needed to be successful in my next round in the beauty industry. I had seen the Phi Academy but was weary of the cost. But I had already learned the lesson you get what you pay for. I enrolled and it was the best decision! Not only did I receive support form peers I worked with a Master for one on one guidance to motivate and teach me.

Phi Graduates

Phi graduates must pass an 11 level course under a Master that passes you on to the next level of your training. We spend many weeks learning the hair stroke pattern and technique. We learn the skill of shaping and of color theory before we work on a live model. And one live model will not do! I submitted 5 before my Master deemed me ready to graduate. It wasn't easy but the day I graduated I was as proud of my achievement as I was when I graduated from beauty school. Maybe more! To get the Phi logo with my name on it was an amazing feeling of accomplishment.

So we have defined Phi -literally. We have looked at how it relates to my passion of eyebrows both in technical practice and in terms of training. But what does that mean to you and your eyebrows? Well it means if you are choosing a Phi recognized artist your are getting a prepared technician. It means you are working with an artist who believes in quality training. It means you are working with an artist who wants the best for her clients and herself. It means your service is being preformed with high quality Phi pigments and tools. Did I mention that their pigments do not contain heavy metals and are MRI Safe? They provide stable long lasting consistent color. It is simply a Phi nominal product!

It means you have taken the first step to having your new beautifully natural looking microbladed eyebrows! metamorphosis-microblading.com
